POSITION: Head, Communication Directorate
Main Duties
Strategic Branding & Communication
- Create and implement an extensive communication plan that aligns with APN’s goals.
- Manage public relations, media outreach, and engagement with stakeholders.
- Oversee the strategy and implementation of impactful communication campaigns for APN’s programs and activities.
- Media Creation & Content Administration
- Oversee the creation of press releases, reports, brochures, and online content.
- Oversee APN’s website, social media channels, and multimedia content creation.
- Maintain uniform branding and messaging throughout all communication platforms.
Digital and Social Media Planning
- Implement digital engagement tactics to improve APN’s online visibility.
- Supervise the generation of content and monitor its performance on social media and online platforms.
- Execute email marketing and digital outreach initiatives to boost engagement.
Public and Media Engagement
- Establish and nurture connections with journalists, media organizations, and public relations firms.
- Coordinate and conduct press conferences, interviews, and media gatherings.
- Formulate and implement APN’s crisis communication plan when required.
Event Messaging & Branding
- Create communication plans for major events, such as the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD).
- Supervise branding, media attention, and promotional content for APN events.
- Guarantee prominent exposure and tactical placement for APN during significant events.
- Engagement with Stakeholders & Management of Teams
- Oversee and direct the team at the Communication Directorate.
- Collaborate closely with APN’s leadership and external stakeholders to enhance APN’s messaging.
- Oversee agreements with consultants, suppliers, and media production groups to ensure quality benchmarks are met.
Financial Planning & Resource Allocation
- Create and manage the yearly communication budget.
- Oversee acquisition and agreements pertaining to communication services and branding.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a similar discipline. A master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
- At least 7 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public affairs.
- Demonstrated leadership expertise in overseeing communication teams and extensive media initiatives.
- Deep knowledge of digital communication, branding, and strategic media planning.
Required Skills
- Outstanding abilities in writing, editing, and public speaking.
- Proficiency in media relations, crisis management, and online marketing.
- Capacity to create and implement effective communication strategies.
- Having experience with international organizations and media networks is beneficial.
