POSITION: Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Job Summary

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is a key leader in the company, responsible for managing its financial strategy, planning, and growth. The CFO makes sure financial resources are used in line with the company’s goals. This role includes planning budgets, managing cash, forecasting, handling investor relations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The CFO works directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to guide financial direction and support company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop financial strategies that support the company’s goals.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and the leadership team to promote growth.
  • Work with all departments to create budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Plan ways to improve company performance.
  • Analyze market and customer data to recognize trends that guide product creation and marketing.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) that connect financial outcomes to business goals.
  • Create easy-to-read financial dashboards for better decision-making.
  • Use advanced tools for quick financial reporting.
  • Direct financial resources toward promising market areas that meet customer needs
  • Ensure financial reports are accurate and timely.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and capital allocation.
  • Identify and manage financial risks and make sure practices follow regulations.
  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounting, taxes, and audits.
  • Maintain data integrity and compliance with financial rules.
  • Manage relationships with investors, regulators, and other important stakeholders.
  • Be involved in fundraising and managing investor relationships.
  • Lead financial assessments for potential mergers and investments.
  • Promote the use of technology in financial management.
  • Support financial activities of related companies in the group.

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Strong ability to use digital tools to improve financial operations and reporting.
  • Good understanding of financial risk management and banking regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulations in banking.
  • Expertise in financial analysis and modeling to inform decisions.

  • Experience in managing capital and liquidity for business growth.
  • Skilled in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Proficient in managing budgets and forecasting.

  • Ability to mentor and develop finance staff, creating a culture of improvement.
  • Skilled in managing financial changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex financial matters to stakeholders.

  • Meeting financial goals like revenue growth and profitability.
  • Managing costs to keep the organization within budget.
  • Maintaining good cash flow for operations and growth.
  • Complete compliance with financial regulations and audits.
  • Successfully managing investor relationships and fundraising.
  • Achieving milestones in integrating digital finance solutions.

Education and Professional Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • A qualified accountant (like ACCA or CA) or another recognized qualification.
  • 7–10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Experience in banks, telcos, remittance companies, or fintech is required.
  • Experience in a startup is a plus.
