AFFECTED AREAS: Ghana Water Company Limited Announces Temporary Water Supply Interruption

The Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWCL) would like to inform the general public that there has been an interruption of water supply to the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region since Sunday 25th August 2024. This interruption is affecting the supply to Dodowa, Oyibi, Frafraha, Adenta, Madina, Ashongman, Haatso, La, Osu, Kanda, Airport Residential Area, Legon, and surrounding communities.

The incident was caused by a burst on the transmission line that connects the Kpong Treatment plant to the Dodowa Booster Station, resulting in an impact on the Northeastern area of the metropolis. Following the completion of the repair work, additional challenges were discovered on the same transmission line, requiring another shutdown. The GWCL engineers are tirelessly working to replace the compromised section of the transmission line so that the supply can be restored.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of Wednesday 28th August 2024, and supply will resume promptly once the project is finished, unless any unexpected issues arise. Additionally, the company has implemented measures to effectively support the affected areas, ensuring that the impact remains manageable.

Therefore, water tankers are being provided to essential service providers such as hospitals and schools.
