Job Title: Client Relationship Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Client Relationship Officer, you will not sit behind a desk all day. Instead, you will be out in the community. You will prospect for new clients, appraise loan applications, and manage a growing portfolio. You will also develop savings and deposit accounts, helping your clients build financial security.

Commercial Activities

  • Hit the Field: You will organize prospecting and communication actions in markets and commercial areas. You will work alongside colleagues to spread the word about Advans.
  • Introduce Products: You will present Advans Ghana’s products and services to the target population. You will explain how they can help small businesses grow.
  • Follow Up: You will maintain regular contact with identified potential clients. You will nurture those relationships until they are ready to apply.
  • Upsell and Crossell: You will propose new products and services to your existing clients. You will identify their evolving needs.
  • Identify Opportunities: You will listen to clients and propose new products or services to management based on real feedback.
  • Drive Savings: You will encourage clients to open deposit accounts and meet your savings targets.
  • Deliver Outstanding Service: You will greet every customer warmly, maintain solid product knowledge, and ensure every interaction leaves a positive impression.

Loan Activities

  • Guide Applications: You will assist clients with their loan applications, making the process smooth and understandable.
  • Appraise Thoroughly: You will conduct loan appraisals right on the field. You will collect detailed information about personal circumstances, business operations, and available guarantees.
  • Present to Committee: You will present loan requests to the loan committee, advocating for your clients.
  • Manage Repayments: You will organize recovery actions when payments run late. You will handle these situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Stay Connected: You will maintain regular contact with clients through field visits. You will become a trusted advisor.
  • Build Trust: You will spend most of your time in the field, becoming a respected and active stakeholder in your community. Small business owners will know your name and trust your advice.

Administrative and Organizational Duties

  • Keep Meticulous Records: You will maintain complete and detailed documentation on every client. Nothing will fall through the cracks.
  • Plan Your Week: You will prepare a weekly plan outlining expected tasks and visits. You will stay organized and focused.
  • Share Best Practices: You will exchange information and ideas with colleagues. You will learn from them and they will learn from you.
  • Report Issues: You will report any job related challenges to your immediate supervisor promptly.
  • Analyze Your Portfolio: You will use operational reports to analyze your client portfolio and identify areas for improvement.

The Ideal Candidate: Skills and Experience

Advans Ghana needs someone who combines formal education with practical, on the ground experience.

Your Qualifications:

  • Educational Foundation: You hold at least a Diploma, Higher National Diploma, or a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience: You have a minimum of one year of working experience. This can include your National Service. Every month counts.
  • Mathematical Ability: You possess good mathematical skills. You can appraise markets and understand basic accounting.
  • Local Knowledge: Practical knowledge of micro and small businesses and the market environment gives you a significant advantage.
  • Language Skills: You can adapt your communication depending on the client. Speaking local languages is a major plus.
