POSITION: Portfolio Quality Officer
Job Summary
Advans Ghana is currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and results-driven professional to join its credit recovery team as a Portfolio Quality Officer. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about maintaining portfolio quality, reducing delinquency, and driving financial performance across branch operations.
The successful candidate will work directly with branch teams to monitor, recover, and prevent loan arrears within the 45–90 days past-due range, ensuring timely intervention and effective client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Arrears Management (45–90 Days)
- Track and monitor all accounts within the 45–90 days overdue category across assigned branches.
- Assess delinquent accounts to identify the root causes of default and propose suitable recovery actions.
- Create and implement strategies that restore overdue accounts to regular status while preventing movement into the over-90-days category.
- Work hand in hand with branch credit and recovery officers to ensure swift and effective follow-up on arrears cases.
2. Recovery Support and Client Engagement
- Conduct consistent follow-ups through phone calls, client visits, and in-person discussions to negotiate repayment arrangements.
- Engage guarantors and co-signers to encourage repayment and strengthen accountability.
- Prepare and send out demand notices for clients with chronic arrears when necessary.
- Recommend cases that meet the criteria for legal or external recovery to Branch Supervisors for further action.
3. Reporting and Portfolio Analysis
- Maintain updated arrears monitoring reports for all 45–90-day accounts.
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance summaries outlining trends, progress, and challenges in debt recovery.
- Identify and communicate early warning signs of emerging credit risks to both Branch Management and the Recovery Unit.
- Ensure data consistency by reconciling client repayments with management information system (MIS) records.
4. Collaboration and Compliance
- Partner closely with the Client Relationship Officer, Recovery Officer, and Team Lead to achieve overall branch delinquency reduction goals.
- Follow Advans Ghana’s credit and recovery policies while upholding professionalism and ethical standards at all times.
- Participate actively in performance review meetings, portfolio quality discussions, and recovery strategy sessions at both branch and unit levels.
5. Training and Support
- Share feedback and provide guidance to Client Relationship Officers on best practices for arrears management.
- Promote awareness of early follow-up practices and emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy loan portfolio.
Required Profile
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- At least two (2) years of experience in credit monitoring, debt recovery, or loan portfolio management within a financial institution—preferably in microfinance or savings and loans.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and credit management systems.
- In-depth understanding of credit risk assessment and recovery procedures.
