ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS FOR OFFICERS

Ho Technical University, a public Tertiary Education Institution, located in the
Volta Regional capital, Ho, Ghana, invites applications from suitably qualified
persons to fill vacancies in the following Faculties and Departments of the
University:

ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

PROCUREMENT OFFICER

Specific Roles:
The Procurement Officer is the head of the Procurement Office and shall be
responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar. He/she shall, among
other duties, supervise the maintenance and updating of proper database of
suppliers, service providers and consultants, prepare procurement plans for
goods, works and services for the University, assist in answering queries raised
by appropriate authority on procurement activities, assist in implementing
systems and procedures to ensure value for money in the entity procurement
activities, assist in the process of advertising tenders and provide input for the
formulation of procurement strategy for the University.
Qualifications and requirements:
A person seeking appointment as Procurement Officer must:
i. hold a minimum of Master’s degree in Procurement Management, or
related areas;
ii. have a Professional qualification in Procurement;
iii. have served as a Senior Assistant Procurement Officer in a University or
comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6)
years.
iv. be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software
applications
v. submit a short vision statement not exceeding three (3) pages outlining
how he/she will manage the procurement functions of the University
effectively and efficiently to promote the mandate of the Procurement
Office and that of the University.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Specific Roles:
The Medical Director shall be the head of the University Clinic and shall
be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar. He/she shall
supervise the functions and activities of the University Clinic and ensure the
efficient and effective delivery of health services to members of the University,
their families and the University Community, advising on the procurement
of drugs, hospital equipment and other goods and services needed for the
efficient operation of the University Clinic, advising, educating and monitoring
health matters in the University and be responsible for the preparation and
control of the University Clinic’s budget.

Qualification and requirements
A person seeking appointment as a Medical Director must:
i. hold an MB.ChB or its equivalent;
ii. be a qualified Medical Doctor;
iii. be duly registered by the Ghana Medical and Dental Council;
iv. have a minimum of six (6) years post-qualification experience,
v. have practised in institutions of similar standing;
vi. submit a short vision statement not exceeding three (3) pages
outlining how he/she will transform the University Clinic into an
effective and efficient self-sustaining health care delivery facility to
promote the mandate of the University.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS
The Physician Assistant is a Senior Staff position in the University. He/she shall
work under the direction and supervision of the University Medical Director.
Qualification and Requirements
Candidates seeking appointment as Physician Assistants must possess
Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistantship or its
equivalent with at least two (2) years experience, and be duly registered by
the Ghana Medical and Dental Council.

SENIOR NURSING OFFICER/NURSING OFFICER
Specific Roles:
The Nursing Officer shall observe and record patients’ behaviour, coordinate
with physicians and other healthcare professionals for creating and evaluating
customized care plans, maintain reports of patients’ medical histories and carry
out the requisite treatments and medications. The Senior Nursing Officer
shall perform the duties of a Nursing Officer at a higher level of responsibility.

Qualification and requirements
A person seeking appointment as a Senior Nursing Officer must:
i. have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/Midwifery from a recognized and
accredited institution; OR
ii. have the State Registered Nurse (SRN) with the Nurses and Midwifery
Council/Diploma in Nursing from a recognized and accredited institution
and must have served as Nursing Officer in a University or comparable
grade in a similar institution/organization for at least four (4) years.
A person seeking appointment as a Nursing Officer must:
i. have a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized and accredited institution;
OR
ii. State Registered Nurse (SRN) with the Nurses and Midwifery Council
with a minimum of six (6) years post qualification experience.

SENIOR DISPENSING TECHNICIAN/DISPENSING
TECHNICIAN
Specific Roles:
The Senior Dispensing Technician/Dispensing Technician shall perform
dispensing services at the Dispensary Unit of the University Clinic.
Qualification and requirements
Applicants for Senior Dispensing Technician position must:
i. have a Bachelor degree in Dispensing Technology from a recognized
and accredited institution; 0R
ii. have served as a Dispensing Technician in a University or comparable
grade in a similar institution/organization for at least four (4) years;
iii. be duly registered by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.
Applicants for Dispensing Technician position must:
i. have the Dispensing Technician’s Diploma or its equivalent from a
recognized and accredited institution, and be duly registered by the
Pharmacy Council of Ghana.

CHIEF TRANSPORT ASSISTANT
Specific Roles:
The Chief Transport Assistant shall be in charge of the Transport Office and
shall work under the direction and supervision of the Registrar. He/she shall
advise on all transport matters in the University, put in place efficient and
effective systems to manage University vehicles and supervise Drivers of the
University.

Qualification and requirements
A person seeking appointment as a Chief Transport Assistant must:
i. hold a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Automobile Engineering or Diploma
in Transport Management or in a relevant area of study awarded by a
recognized institution;
ii. have served as Principal Transport Assistant or its equivalent in a
University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for
at least six (6) years;
iii. be computer literate.
