The Design & Technology Institute (DTI) is a hub for engineering and design practice at Accents & Art Limited (AAL). Formally launched in March 2016, the Institute seeks to provide the platform for students from the various universities, polytechnics, technical and vocational institutions gain industry experience by working closely with artisans on a factory floor and supported by experienced instructors. Students are further exposed to field/site visits to enable them experience first-hand what transpires in industry.
This is to help bridge the gap between the school curriculum and world of work. The Institute explores ideas and challenges perceived as boundaries between academic disciplines.
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure timely receipt of all payments due the institute as well as perform diversified accounts payable functions in line with Financial and other organizational policies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Handle the preparation of all student bills and follow up to ensure timely settle
- Receive fees and other payments by cash, cheques and money transfers.
- Post daily receipts and maintain Accounts receivable documentation.
- Handle cash and deposits using proper accounting procedures and documentation.
- Monitor all receipts and payment vouchers.
- Ensure timely deposit of payments are made to the Bank.
- Process journal entries and online payments and transfers.
- Maintain cash and ledger books accurately.
- Update receivables by totaling unpaid fees.
- Initiate collections on post- due accounts.
- Maintain accurate payment procedures.
- Determine the propriety and accuracy of all expenditures.
- Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
- Handle the preparation of all student bills..
- Monitor all receipts and payment vouchers.
- Manage the Petty Cash System in the office.
- Disburses petty cash by recording entry; verifying documentation.
- Ensure timely deposit of payments are made to the Bank.
- Prepare Bank reconciliations
- Process journal entries and online payments and transfers
- Maintain cash and ledger books accurately
- Initiate collections on post- due accounts
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs such as
- Safeguarding
- Gender programming
- Community project
- School to work transitions
- Workplace experience
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A degree in Accounting or Finance or a part professional qualification in ACCA/ ICA /CIMA/CPA
- Must have a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in Accounting or Finance
- Have an analytical mind and be comfortable with numbers
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literacy (familiarity with Excel, and other Accounting Software/ applications)
