POSITION: Power Systems Engineer 

Tesla Electrical and Automation is a premier engineering firm delivering specialized solutions in electrical systems, automation, and industrial maintenance across Ghana’s mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to strengthen our technical team and contribute to complex, high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities and Scope of Work

You will be responsible for the comprehensive design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems.

  • Design, analyze, and model complete electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
  • Perform critical power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, stability, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Develop and review detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications for projects.
  • Ensure all designs and implementations comply with applicable international and local codes (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NERC, and Ghana grid codes).
  • Coordinate effectively with utilities, contractors, and regulatory authorities throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Utilize various electrical construction and simulation software to enhance project design and reporting accuracy.
  • Calculate, design, and implement robust earthing systems for power infrastructure.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
  • Possess strong theoretical and practical knowledge of power systems and electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard power systems analysis software such as ETAP, PSS®E, PowerWorld, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Have a clear understanding of protection systems, relays, and switchgear operations.
  • Be an expert in earthing system design and familiar with a range of electrical design and analysis software.
  • Must be a registered member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GHIE).
  • Exhibit strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and meticulous attention to detail with a solid documentation culture.
  • Ability to work strategically under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve complex problems as a collaborative team player.
