Green for Change Ghana (GCG) is an environmental non-governmental organization dedicated to sustainable natural resource management, climate resilience, and community empowerment in northern Ghana. Our programs focus on tree planting, agroforestry, renewable energy, and climate adaptation. We are currently seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Communication Officer to support our visibility and storytelling efforts, amplifying the impact of our community-driven work.

Position Summary and Impact

This volunteer role is pivotal for documenting field activities, creating engaging multimedia content, and managing our digital platforms. The officer will regularly travel to project communities to capture compelling photos, videos, and narratives directly from the field. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual seeking practical experience while contributing to meaningful environmental and social development.

Key Responsibilities

You will be the primary storyteller, translating field activities into powerful digital content.

Capture high-quality photographs and videos of project activities, events, and community engagements.
Edit and produce photos and videos for use in reports, social media, and promotional materials.
Manage and update the organization’s website, including content uploads and basic layout maintenance.
Create, schedule, and post engaging content across Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and YouTube.
Support the development of communication materials such as flyers, posters, short videos, and written success stories.
Maintain a well-organized digital archive of all photos, videos, and communication assets.
Travel frequently to rural project sites to document activities and gather authentic community stories.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should possess a minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Journalism, Media Studies, Graphic Design, or a related field
Demonstrate strong practical skills in photography and videography.
Have basic to intermediate proficiency in photo and video editing software.
Possess the ability to design and update websites; experience with WordPress is an advantage.
Exhibit good working knowledge of major social media platforms for organizational use.
Have the ability to write clear, engaging captions, articles, and narratives.
Show willingness and readiness to undertake frequent travel to rural field locations.
Exhibit creativity, attention to detail, teamwork skills, and a genuine passion for environmental conservation and community development.

Added Advantage

Previous experience working with NGOs or community-based projects.
Skills in graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
Basic knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and documentation processes.
