POSITION: Special Education Teacher
We are a dedicated non-profit organization committed to empowering children and young adults with disabilities. Our mission focuses on providing inclusive education, rehabilitation, and community support to help every individual thrive. We are now seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team in Kotwi Kyekyewere.
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will work directly with children who have diverse disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and learning difficulties. This role involves designing and implementing personalized learning plans, supporting daily classroom activities, and fostering collaborative relationships with caregivers and multidisciplinary professionals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
You will play a central role in creating a nurturing and effective educational environment.
- Develop and implement detailed Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each learner.
- Deliver tailored instruction using adaptive methods, visual supports, and hands on learning materials.
- Assess and document student progress consistently, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Promote inclusive classroom practices and implement positive behavior support systems.
- Collaborate actively with therapists, parents, and other staff members to ensure holistic support.
- Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Participate in regular team meetings, professional training sessions, and community outreach initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Candidates must hold a minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Possess at least one year of hands-on experience working with children with disabilities.
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and cerebral palsy.
- Have the ability to design and adapt individualized learning materials and activities.
- Exhibit strong communication skills, immense patience, compassion, and a collaborative spirit.
- Show a genuine passion for working with children of diverse abilities and supporting their development.
Location: This position is based in Kotwi Kyekyewere.
