Slovak Republic National Scholarship 2026/2027
The Government of the Slovak Republic has opened applications for the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) for the summer semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. This program invites ambitious individuals from around the world to explore academic and cultural opportunities in Slovakia. Through this initiative, participants can experience the country’s strong educational traditions, modern research environment, and welcoming atmosphere while advancing their personal and professional goals.
The scholarship supports international students, PhD candidates, university teachers, researchers, and artists who wish to spend time at Slovak universities or research institutions. Participants can engage in short study visits, conduct academic research, teach specialized courses, or develop creative projects. Each opportunity allows recipients to collaborate with Slovak experts and institutions, fostering mutual understanding and knowledge exchange.
Financial support under the NSP covers living expenses and, in some cases, travel costs, helping scholars focus entirely on their academic or artistic work. The program ensures that participants have the resources needed to fully immerse themselves in Slovak academic and cultural life. Scholars can benefit from access to libraries, laboratories, and creative studios while gaining valuable international experience.
Beyond financial aid, the NSP offers an opportunity to build long-lasting professional networks and cultural connections. Participants leave Slovakia with enhanced skills, broader perspectives, and a deeper appreciation of European collaboration. The Government of the Slovak Republic continues to use this program as a bridge between nations, encouraging innovation, education, and creativity through global academic cooperation.
About the Scholarship
Founded in 2005 and financed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) seeks to promote academic and cultural mobility by providing support for living costs during study or research periods in Slovakia. The initiative invites candidates globally and promotes international cooperation and sharing of knowledge.
The NSP allows foreign students, PhD candidates, and academic professionals to engage in research, teaching, or artistic residencies while establishing robust ties with Slovak institutions. Moreover, students and doctoral candidates can apply for travel grants to help cover mobility expenses.
