Study in Canada | Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) 2026

If you’ve ever dreamed of pursuing your graduate studies in one of Canada’s most vibrant and academically driven provinces, Alberta is opening its doors to you with the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) 2026. Valued at $12,000, this distinguished award supports outstanding graduate students, including international scholars who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, research potential, and a commitment to excellence.

Funded by the Government of Alberta, the AGES program represents more than financial assistance; it’s a recognition of academic excellence and a gateway to meaningful opportunities in Canada’s research and innovation landscape. Recipients gain access to world-class facilities and the chance to collaborate with leading experts at top universities such as the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, and University of Lethbridge.

Beyond easing financial pressures, this scholarship empowers scholars to focus entirely on their studies and research, encouraging innovation that contributes to Alberta’s economic and social growth. It stands as an invitation for ambitious students worldwide to join a community that values discovery, creativity, and real-world impact, turning academic dreams into tangible achievements in the heart of Canada’s innovation hub.

Importance of This Scholarship

AGES 2026 seeks to draw the most brilliant talents globally to Alberta’s graduate programs, promoting innovation and leadership across various sectors. Beneficiaries obtain a single payment of $12,000, transferred straight into their Canadian bank accounts. To be eligible, students need to have an Alberta home address and uphold academic excellence during their studies.

Eligibility Requirements

The scholarship invites a diverse group of students:

  • Students from abroad holding a valid study permit
  • Citizens of Canada, permanent residents, or individuals under protection
  • Students pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree, encompassing those enrolled in both course-based and thesis-based programs
  • Students registered as full-time in Fall 2025 and/or Winter 2026, or newly accepted in January 2026.
  • Students with disabilities registered in a minimum of 40% of a complete course load are likewise qualified.
  • To be eligible, students need to achieve a GPA of 3.3 or above, exhibit academic excellence via research or publications, and participate actively in their academic communities.

How to Apply

In contrast to many scholarships, AGES cannot be applied for directly. Your faculty selects you based on your accomplishments and qualifications. To be eligible, fill out the AGES Student Declaration Form and send it to your home faculty by their internal deadline. Every department subsequently chooses the most qualified students and sends their nominations to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS).
