- Have finished between 0–12 months of graduate studies in the program for which they request funding (subject to specific conditions for combined or accelerated programs).
- Maintain a top-tier academic average during the final two years of full-time education (some exceptions might occur depending on institutional guidelines).
- Make certain that their graduate program includes a substantial research element like a thesis, dissertation, or academic publication.
- Must not have previously received a Masters-level scholarship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Emphasis: The CGRS M prioritizes diversity and inclusiveness. Specific supplements and targeted allocations are available for:
- Indigenous student researchers can qualify for an Indigenous Scholars Supplement of up to $5,000, in addition to the award.
- Black student researchers – with as many as 20 extra awards allocated by each funding organization.
Process of Application
Applications need to be submitted through the Research Portal, allowing students to apply to a maximum of three eligible Canadian institutions.
