Australia Aged Care Nursing Scholarship 2026

The Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Program 2026 offers financial support to registered nurses and nurse practitioners who are pursuing postgraduate studies relevant to aged care, including gerontology, dementia care, palliative care, and leadership in nursing. By alleviating the financial burden of further education, the program encourages more healthcare professionals to specialize in aged care, ultimately improving the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of services for Australia’s aging population. Recipients will also gain access to professional development resources and networking opportunities to strengthen their impact within the sector.

A Plan to Enhance Elderly Care

The scholarship initiative seeks to provide high-quality, person-focused support for elderly Australians while motivating additional workers to obtain formal credentials in aged care nursing. Emphasis is placed on enhancing workforce capacity to assist First Nations communities, guaranteeing culturally safe and inclusive care.

The program motivates aged care workers to obtain accredited qualifications and engage in leadership training to advance their careers and enhance health and wellbeing outcomes for the elderly.

Benefits and Funding Package

A total of 1,050 scholarships will be granted from now until June 2027, with a confirmed allocation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates. Scholarships will be refunded after the successful completion of study units, with funding accessible for various courses, including Certificate III through Master’s programs.

The funding options encompass:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support – as much as $6,000
  • Certificate IV in Aged Care – as much as $6,000
  • Nursing Diploma – as much as $20,000
  • Advanced Diploma in Nursing – as much as $6,000
  • Bachelor of Nursing – as much as $30,000
  • Graduate Certificate – maximum of $7,500
  • Graduate Diploma – as high as $15,000
  • Master’s Diploma – as much as $30,000

In addition to financial assistance, scholars will receive professional memberships, mentoring opportunities, subscriptions to clinical tools, and training in cultural safety

Additional Information

Recipients will benefit from free membership with the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners, access to the Ausmed learning platform featuring over 1,200 clinical resources, and involvement in the Murra Mullangari: Introduction to Cultural Safety and Cultural Humility course provided in collaboration with CATSINaM. These resources seek to guarantee that graduates are both exceptionally skilled and culturally aware practitioners.

How to Apply

The initial round of scholarship applications is now available and will end on 30 September 2025. Prospective candidates must submit essential documents, such as:

  • Evidence of course registration (if accessible)
  • Verification from the employer regarding current employment in aged care.
  • A duplicate of their resume
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) (if relevant)
  • Qualified applicants may send their applications via the official online platform.
