About This Fellowship 

This is not merely another research article — it represents an opportunity to engage in a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the Animal Metabolomics & Ecology group at the Zoological Institute and Museum. With guidance from Dr. Fischer and Prof. Uhl, you will collaborate with national and international specialists in mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and chemical synthesis, benefiting from top-tier facilities and a highly cooperative research atmosphere.

Duties of a Scholar

As a chosen fellow, you will:

  • Carry out behavioral ecology studies involving spiders.
  • Utilize LC/MS- and GC/MS-based metabolomics to investigate pheromonal signaling.
  • Examine and explain scientific information.
  • Oversee animal populations and supervise lab tasks.
  • Draft scientific papers and engage in global research collaborations.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in Biology, Chemistry, or relevant disciplines at the time of hiring.

Required Skills:

  • Keen enthusiasm for ecological behavior and chemistry.
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English (language of the lab).

Desired skills (optional):

  • Familiarity with analytical chemistry instruments (LC/MS, GC/MS).
  • Previous research in livestock management and behavioral studies.
