Location & Duration
- Location: National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan
- Duration: A maximum of 90 straight calendar days, starting at any point in October 2025 and concluding by March 31, 2026.
Please be aware that if you want to intern for more than 90 days, you need to communicate directly with your host researcher.
Eligility Requirements
The NIMS Internship Program accepts applicants globally, but you need to:
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student actively enrolled during the internship.
- Have a strong enthusiasm for studying materials science or associated disciplines.
- Prepare to collaborate closely with a NIMS researcher (you must reach out to one directly before submitting your application).
Note: Students receiving scholarships like MEXT, JSPS, or JST should verify their eligibility with the respective providers.

- CV (English)
- Certificate of enrollment/registration (issued within the last 3 months)
- Official academic transcript (Bachelor’s + Master’s, if relevant)
- Supervisor’s Suggestion: Your NIMS host researcher might ask for a recommendation letter from your academic supervisor.
- Await Review: If approved, your NIMS researcher will send your documents to the Academic Collaboration Office.
