Job Title: Partnerships Advisor

The Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Partnerships Advisor to serve as the senior partnerships lead within the office. This is a strategic leadership role where you will develop and drive the partnerships strategy, manage donor relations, and guide a team of partnerships officers. As a key member of the senior management team, you will identify and advance collaborative opportunities with governments, UN agencies, donors, and NGOs, aligning with UNOPS’ mandate and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Role Purpose

The Partnerships Advisor shapes the office’s strategic engagement and resource mobilization. You will provide in-depth analysis of the development landscape, lead donor coordination, and support programme development. Your work will ensure UNOPS is strategically positioned to deliver impactful, sustainable projects across the region.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement an integrated partnerships strategy aligned with UNOPS’ global and regional plans, identifying key partners and operational niches.
  • Partnership Development: Lead the team in building and maintaining strong relationships with governments, UN agencies, donors, NGOs, and the private sector.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent UNOPS in high-level meetings and negotiations, ensuring cost-effective and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Programme Development Support: Guide the partnerships team in project identification, proposal development, and formulation, ensuring alignment with Results-Based Management principles.
  • Inter-Agency Collaboration: Participate in UN system coordination mechanisms, including the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
  • Knowledge Management: Implement best practices, build team capacity, and contribute to organizational learning in partnership development.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Required: A Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience in international development, partnership building, project development, or proposal writing.
  • Desired: Experience in multicultural or UN system environments, particularly in developing countries. Background in humanitarian or development contexts and project/programme management is advantageous.
