Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of automotive fuel system components, including tanks, pumps, injectors, and fuel lines
  • Create and approve detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for fuel systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for fuel system design issues
  • Perform design validation using CAE simulations, prototyping, and physical testing
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., EPA, CARB) and internal specifications
  • Manage BOMs and part releases using PLM systems such as 3Dx or Teamcenter
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure production readiness
  • Track programme timelines, budgets, and deliverables for fuel system integration
  • Manage supplier performance, technical assessments, and risk evaluations
  • Lead failure investigations using 8D methodology and Failure Mode Avoidance techniques
  • Apply systems engineering principles across requirements, integration, testing, and configuration management
  • Support geometric dimensioning, tolerance management, and variation control
  • Contribute to APQP, EBER, and commodity planning activities
  • Drive cost reduction and weight optimisation initiatives without compromising quality or safety

Requirements

  • Significant experience in automotive fuel systems and related components
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and fuel system technologies
  • Experience with FEA, DFMEA, and design validation tools
  • Familiarity with PLM systems such as 3Dx, Teamcenter, or TRM
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional and supplier teams
  • Full UK driving licence preferred for onsite roles
  • Flexibility to work across different locations as programme demands require
