Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, candidates need to:
- Possess a PhD degree or its equivalent before submitting their application.
- Be located outside the UK and work at a university, research institution, or comparable organization.
- Be acknowledged as important contributors to their area or developing leaders in academia.
Terms of Fellowship
- Involvement: Fellows are required to interact online with St Andrews students and faculty during the 2025-2026 academic year.
- On-Site Visit: A stay lasting up to four weeks is necessary between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026.
- Activities: During their stay, Fellows will conduct research seminars, postgraduate lectures, or undergraduate training sessions and engage actively in the University’s academic community.
The University can provide fully virtual fellowships or brief visits for candidates with particular obligations, like caregiving duties.
Global Fellowship Program Benefits
The following support will be provided to selected Global Fellows throughout their time in St Andrews:
- Stipend: £1,000 for a 28-day stay (calculated proportionally for shorter durations).
- Housing: Self-catering living in a one-bedroom flat or similar.
- Travel Costs: Round-trip flight in economy class, organized by the University.
- Transfers: Transportation to and from the airport in St Andrews.
- Access to Facilities: Complete access to University IT and library resources.

Selection and Results
Applications will be assessed by the relevant Academic Schools and a cross-disciplinary selection committee. Candidates who are successful will receive notification by 30 May 2025.
