Job Title: Senior Ventilation Engineer

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Ventilation Engineer to join our Mine Planning & Technical Services department. This is a permanent, senior-level role critical to ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive underground environment. You will lead ventilation planning and management for our mechanized operation, which is designed to produce up to 5,000 tonnes per day.

Role Purpose

Your core purpose is to strategically plan, manage, and maintain an occupational environment that safeguards health and optimizes productivity. You will ensure all working areas have adequate, compliant ventilation systems.

Key Accountabilities

You will hold responsibility for the entire ventilation planning cycle and its execution. Your primary duties will include:

First, you will provide a safe work environment by ensuring adequate ventilation in all active and Care & Maintenance areas of the mine.
You will identify, schedule, and plan all primary ventilation construction projects.
A central duty involves designing ventilation infrastructure, including regulator placement, stopping design, and scope sealing to deliver required air quantities.
Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with Mine Captains and Supervisors to ensure ventilation works are completed on time and to a high-quality standard.
You will also communicate short-term ventilation plans to all mining teams and have ownership of issuing blasting times.
Additionally, you will plan and oversee primary ventilation surveys (airflow, pressure, contaminants) and update mine emergency escape route plans.
You will prepare and submit all statutory ventilation reports and ensure full compliance with Ghana Mining Regulations.
Finally, you will provide expert technical advice to operations on resolving any ventilation system deficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering foundation and underground experience:

A BSc in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in an underground mining environment.
Legal certificates such as Mine Captain, Shift Boss, Blasting, or Mine Rescue are strong advantages.

Technical & Other Competencies

Proficiency in mine planning software (preferably Surpac/Deswik), AutoCAD, and advanced skills in Ventsim.
Strong capabilities in managing oneself, building effective working relationships, and demonstrating high integrity.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset.
