South Korea’s Seoul National University Scholarship 2025
Seoul National University, one of South Korea’s most prestigious institutions, is excited to announce a remarkable scholarship opportunity for international students, particularly focusing on those from ASEAN member countries. Set to commence in the Fall 2025 semester, this scholarship is a unique chance for students passionate about the transformative concepts of Smart Cities and data-driven urban development. This initiative not only provides substantial financial support but also offers diverse academic experiences aimed at fostering innovation in urban planning and community resilience.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in areas related to Smart City projects.
- Nationality: Applicants must be nationals of ASEAN member states, with both the applicant and their parents holding foreign citizenship.
- Recommendation Advantage: Additional points will be granted to applicants who provide recommendations from the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN).
- Exclusivity: Applicants must not be recipients or anticipated recipients of other similar scholarships.
Required Documents:
- Completed Application Form (Form 1).
- Personal Statement and Study Plan (Form 2).
- Two Letters of Recommendation (Form 3).
- Academic Documents: Certificates of graduation, degree, and academic transcripts.
- Evidence of Nationality: Copies of passports for both the applicant and their parents, in addition to a certificate verifying the parent-child relationship.
- Proposal: The Smart City initiative proposal focused on data utilization concerning ASEAN and Korea (Form 4).
- Resume (CV).
- Certified translations for documents that are neither in English nor Korean.
SNU Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates for the SNU South Korea Scholarship will enjoy the following benefits:
- Tuition Fee: Complete waiver for a duration of up to 2 years. The scholarship package is designed to offer comprehensive coverage of either full or partial tuition fees, significantly easing the financial burden on students from overseas.
- Living Expenses: $1,400 monthly for a maximum of 2 years. Recipients can expect a generous monthly stipend that ensures their living expenses, such as accommodation, food, and transportation, are well-supported, allowing them to focus on their studies.
- Settlement Fee: A one-time payment of $300.
- Airfare: Up to $400 (economy class, determined by the GTS system).
- National Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage throughout the scholarship duration.
- Research Opportunities: Scholars will have access to special funding aimed at supporting research projects that align with the scholarship’s core themes of Smart Cities and sustainable urban development, encouraging innovative solutions to contemporary urban challenges.
- Networking Opportunities: Students will benefit from an array of networking opportunities, including access to workshops, seminars, and conferences that bring together leading experts and practitioners in the field of urban development.
