About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Cyient, you will lead and support end-to-end product development activities, from concept and design through testing, verification, and regulatory approval. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily with the India Engineering Center (IEC) to ensure successful project execution
  • Lead full lifecycle product development, including design, prototyping, testing, and implementation
  • Design mechanical systems and components that meet functional and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Develop project plans, risk management strategies, and engineering documentation
  • Perform product verification to assess performance, reliability, and safety
  • Modify and optimize designs to resolve malfunctions and meet specifications
  • Conduct VAVE studies and identify cost-out opportunities through detailed cost-benefit analysis
  • Lead cost optimization initiatives using Pareto analysis, benchmarking, and teardown studies
  • Align with global product sustenance teams on R&D roadmaps and resource planning
  • Support regulatory approvals including UL, FDA, CSA, and European certifications
  • Participate actively in toll-gate reviews and cross-functional decision-making

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8–13 years of relevant experience in mechanical product design and development
  • Proven experience with products such as laboratory equipment, home appliances, or temperature and pressure control systems
  • Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, materials science, mechanics, and kinematics
  • Experience in design verification planning and technical risk assessment
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including natural and hydrocarbon refrigerants (advantageous)
  • Solid project management knowledge covering scope, schedule, cost, and quality
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project (MPP)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills for working with global and cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory requirements for laboratory equipment (preferred)
  • Valid L1 or H-1B visa with a minimum of one year validity
