POSITION: Enumerators

Job Description

The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) is a globally recognized non-profit foundation dedicated to combating child labor and forced labor in cocoa-growing regions since 2002. We partner with industry leaders, governments, and civil society to advance child rights and worker protection in cocoa-producing communities across Ghana.

We are currently recruiting dedicated Enumerators to conduct a vital Protective Community Index (PCI) survey. This research will rapidly assess community access to essential services—such as education and safe water—that protect children and reduce child labor risks. The survey will run from January to February 2026, with data collection spanning approximately 20 days.

Role Overview

Enumerators will be responsible for gathering accurate and reliable data directly from respondents in selected cocoa-growing communities. You will play a direct role in generating insights that inform ICI’s community protection programs and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Enumeration:

Attend comprehensive enumerator training and adhere strictly to ICI survey protocols.
Receive and review all necessary survey materials and electronic equipment from your team leader.

During Enumeration:

Locate and engage pre-selected respondents within assigned communities.
Schedule and conduct structured interviews professionally and respectfully.
Accurately record responses using digital data collection tools.
Follow all interview guidelines to ensure data quality and respondent comfort.

Post-Enumeration:

Report any field challenges or unusual situations to the team leader daily.
Ensure all questionnaires and electronic devices are properly accounted for.
Return all materials to the team leader upon survey completion.
Participate in post-survey debriefing sessions.
Maintain strict confidentiality and data security throughout the process.

Your Profile and Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

Minimum educational qualification: Senior High School certificate. A first degree or HND is strongly preferred.
At least one year of hands-on experience in field data collection (e.g., household, school, or community surveys).
Full fluency in English and Twi for clear communication with respondents.
Proficiency in using smartphones/tablets and electronic data collection platforms like KoboToolbox, ODK, or SurveyCTO.
Strong interpersonal skills, with respect for diverse community members and a commitment to professionalism.
Willingness to travel extensively to remote rural areas and adapt to flexible working hours.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Prior experience working within the cocoa sector or in rural development is a significant advantage. We are looking for reliable, honest, and motivated individuals who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
