We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Human Resources Officer to manage the complete employee lifecycle for our diverse workforce in Ghana. This role is essential for ensuring compliance, fostering a positive organizational culture, and supporting both our permanent staff and extensive field-based teams.
Role Overview
The HR Officer will execute comprehensive human resource functions in alignment with Ghanaian labour laws, internal policies, and international certification standards such as Verra. You will oversee recruitment, administration, compliance, employee relations, and workforce engagement, playing a key role in sustaining our operational excellence and ethical employment practices.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Workforce Planning:
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for permanent staff and support hiring for seasonal and field-based roles
- Facilitate onboarding and induction programs for all employees, ensuring seamless integration.
HR Administration and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and secure employee records and headcount reports.
- Manage contract renewals, performance tracking, and statutory documentation for expatriates.
- Develop and implement HR policies covering grievance mechanisms, anti-discrimination, and codes of conduct.
- Ensure compliance with the Ghana Labour Act, immigration regulations, and audit requirements.
Field Workforce and Contractor Oversight:
- Monitor contractor adherence to labour standards, including fair wages, safe working conditions, and prevention of child or forced labour.
- Investigate and resolve fieldworker concerns, ensuring accessible grievance channels.
Employee Relations and Engagement:
- Implement and manage transparent grievance resolution procedures.
- Conduct regular worker engagements, rights education sessions, and policy communications.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture across all sites.
Reporting and Data Management:
- Prepare detailed HR reports on workforce metrics, recruitment, grievances, and compliance.
- Provide data-driven insights to support management planning and decision-making.
Your Profile and Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Three to five years of progressive HR experience, preferably within agriculture, forestry, construction, or field-based operations.
- Strong knowledge of the Ghana Labour Act, immigration processes, and employment regulations.
- Proven experience in grievance handling, policy development, and employee relations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
