About the Role

As a Category Officer at NWSSP, you will play a crucial role in supporting the National Medical Sourcing team. You will be responsible for managing the full Procure to Pay process for all Health Boards, Trusts, and Special Health Authorities across Wales.

Job Duties

In this dynamic position, the Category Officer will:

  • Support the Category Manager to maximize procurement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and relevant legislation.
  • Identify demand and assist in the award and publication of contracts.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to sourcing and supply contracts.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value and efficiency.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a CIPS Level 4/NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Possess five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Hold two A levels or equivalent qualifications.
  • Have experience in a contracting function, such as constructing specifications and evaluating bids.
  • Knowledge of the Procure to Pay process and relevant quality systems.

Additional Skills

  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable but not a requirement.
