Yale University World Fellows Program

Study in USA | Yale University World Fellows Program 2026

Global leaders who want to push their impact to new heights now have an extraordinary chance to grow at one of the world’s top universities. The Yale World Fellows Program has opened applications for its 2026 intake, inviting remarkable mid-career professionals to join a transformational leadership experience at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs.

This fully funded fellowship brings together innovators, reformers, and changemakers from across the globe for an intensive four-month journey of leadership training, academic development, and global networking inside Yale University.

Why the Yale World Fellows Program Stands Out

The program is known for its unmatched prestige and extremely selective admissions process. Only a small group earns a spot each year, which ensures the cohort stays diverse and made up of outstanding professionals from many fields. Fellows often come from:

  • Government and public policy
  • Civil society and nonprofit work
  • Technology, science, and engineering
  • Journalism and media
  • Social entrepreneurship
  • Arts and culture
  • Business and finance
  • Human rights and peacebuilding

From mid-August to mid-December, Fellows live on campus, participate in leadership workshops, join Yale classes, mentor students, and build global networks that often last a lifetime.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship seeks mid-career professionals who already lead impactful work and want to expand their influence on a global level. Applicants usually have between five and twenty-five years of experience, although the program imposes no strict age limits. The typical Fellow is around 39 years old.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold citizenship outside the United States
  • Show a strong record of professional impact and innovation
  • Work at a national or international level
  • Demonstrate strong English communication skills
  • Commit to full-time residence at Yale for the entire program

Dual US citizens may apply, but the program gives preference to applicants who primarily work outside the United States.

What the Selection Committee Looks For

Yale seeks individuals who show:

  • Proven leadership and personal integrity
  • A deep commitment to improving communities and societies
  • A track record of original thinking or creative problem-solving
  • Strong potential for future global influence
  • The ability to engage actively with the Yale community

The fellowship values applicants who bring bold ideas, rich experience, and a desire to collaborate with an international cohort.

Fully Funded Support for All Fellows

The Yale World Fellows Program provides complete financial coverage, so participants remain fully focused on learning and growth. Each Fellow receives:

  • A living stipend that covers all expenses in New Haven
  • A furnished one or two-bedroom apartment
  • Comprehensive medical insurance through Yale
  • A round-trip flight from their home country to the United States

With financial stress removed, Fellows spend the semester refining leadership skills, expanding global networks, and exploring academic resources across Yale.
