The University of Macau (UM) is now accepting applications for the Outstanding Student-Athletes Admission Scheme (OSAAS) for the 2026–2027 academic year (1st Batch, non-local students). This prestigious program recognizes talented student-athletes who excel both in academics and sports, providing them with the chance to study at one of Asia’s most dynamic universities. Applications are open from 1 to 30 November 2025, with 30 admission scholarships available for top-performing applicants.

Program Overview

The OSAAS Scholarship at the University of Macau aims to attract and nurture high-achieving athletes who demonstrate leadership, discipline, and excellence in their chosen sports. It provides academic opportunities for exceptional talents while promoting UM’s vision of developing well-rounded students with global competitiveness.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following academic and athletic standards:

  • Athletic Qualifications:
    • National Level 1 Athlete (2023–2025) or above for Badminton, Tennis, and Swimming.
    • National Level 2 Athlete (2023–2025) or above for all other sports.
    • Squash applicants are exempted from the National Athlete Grade Certificate requirement.
    • Must have achieved Top 8 ranking in International or National Competitions, or Top 6 in Provincial Competitions within their sport.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • Must sit for the 2026 National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gaokao).
    • Should meet general university entry requirements for non-local students.

UM is recruiting athletes in multiple sports disciplines, including:

  • Badminton
  • Basketball (Men & Women)
  • Dragon Boat
  • Fencing
  • Karate
  • Korfball
  • Martial Arts
  • Rock Climbing
  • Soccer (Men)
  • Squash
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Track and Field
  • Volleyball (Men & Women)

Program and Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive an admission scholarship covering tuition and related fees. Although UM does not offer a degree in Sports Science, student-athletes can select from any available undergraduate programs. However, if applicants do not meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen field, UM reserves the right to assign an alternative program.

To maintain the scholarship, students must:

  • Sustain strong academic performance throughout their studies.
  • Display sportsmanship, leadership, and active participation in university events.
  • Continue contributing to UM’s athletic community through competitions and campus initiatives.

Sports Skill Test and Selection Process

  • Test Dates: 10–11 January 2026
  • Venue: University of Macau
    Both the sports skill test and the English placement test will be held during this period.

Shortlisted applicants will receive notification of their selection status by 19 December 2025.
