1. Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship 2026 

The Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship 2026 offers a fully funded opportunity for international Tibetan students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies. It aims to support those who have shown strong academic commitment, personal integrity, and resilience in the face of financial struggles.

What Does the Scholarship Offer?

  • 100 Fully Funded Undergraduate Awards: For Tibetan students admitted to or enrolled in a minimum 3-year degree or diploma program.
  • 5 Fully Funded Postgraduate Awards: Exclusively for former Dalai Lama Trust undergraduate scholarship recipients.
  • Direct Fund Transfers: Scholarship funds go directly into each student’s personal bank account (preferably with the State Bank of India – SBI).
  • Eligible Programs: Only full-degree programs are covered. Short-term, vocational, or certificate courses are not eligible.

Eligibility Requirements

For Undergraduate Applicants:
Candidates must meet one or more of the following:

  • Academic Consistency: Maintained strong academic performance even if Class XII marks are modest (requires a Form B recommendation).
  • Moral Strength: Proven record of honesty, responsibility, and integrity (requires a Form B school recommendation).
  • Family Financial Hardship: Applicants who are orphaned, semi-orphaned, or from low-income families (verified through Form A by a Tibetan Settlement Officer).

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Green Book (GB) contributions up to March 31, 2025.
  • Active Registration Certificate (RC).
  • Applicants from Nepal, Bhutan, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, or Gangtok must present verification from their local Tibetan Settlement Officer.
  • Must not receive any other scholarship.
  • Any gap year must be clearly explained in the application.

For Postgraduate Applicants:

  • Open only to previous Dalai Lama Trust undergraduate scholarship holders.
  • Must submit complete academic transcripts and certifications.
  • Must still meet all GB and RC documentation requirements.

2. Dalai Lama Fellows Program 2026

The Dalai Lama Fellows Program 2026 selects 15–20 outstanding global changemakers for a year-long fellowship focused on contemplative leadership and social transformation. It supports individuals already involved in community-based projects or those ready to launch a meaningful social initiative.

  • Application Deadline: November 12, 2025 (by 22:00 UTC)
  • Selection Announcement: February 2026
  • Virtual Onboarding: March 2026
  • Fellowship Begins: April 2026
  • Leadership Assembly: May 2026 (all travel, meals, and lodging covered)
  • Program Ends: March 2027

Fellowship Eligibility

  • Age Range: 20–36 years as of April 1, 2026.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Project Requirement: Must have an active or well-defined community project with at least one year of engagement.
  • Commitment: Willing to dedicate about 12 hours per month to fellowship activities (coaching, virtual learning, group sessions).
  • Mindfulness Orientation: Genuine interest in contemplative practices and ethical leadership.
  • Availability: Must attend the Contemplative Leadership Assembly in May 2026 (fully funded).
