About the Role

Based at the Paisley campus, the Health and Safety Officer will provide expert guidance to ensure robust safety management. You will lead policy development, audits, and incident responses, while mentoring departments on best practices. This fixed-term position offers full-time work of 35 hours per week until April 2027. You may occasionally travel between campuses to implement safety initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Develop and review Health and Safety policy frameworks to ensure legislative compliance
  • Conduct audits and inspections to maintain high safety standards across all campuses
  • Act as the primary contact for health and safety advice to staff and departments
  • Research, write, and implement procedures for incident management and risk reduction
  • Deliver engaging training sessions and awareness programs to staff and students
  • Monitor and benchmark safety practices to maintain industry best standards
  • Support the Operational Plan and wider University Strategy with safety initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into daily operations

Job Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent professional health and safety qualification
  • Membership of IOSH or a similar recognized professional body
  • Demonstrated continuous professional development in health and safety
  • Significant experience providing health and safety advice and compliance monitoring
  • Expertise in UK legislation and policy development for safety management
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills
  • Eligible to work in the UK, with potential visa sponsorship available under the Skilled Worker route
