Eligibility: Who Qualifies

IWU keeps its eligibility criteria straightforward, but the academic bar stands firm. International students from all countries are welcome to apply. Here is what you need to bring to the table:

Academic Preparation: You need a recommended minimum of 15 academic units covering English, foreign language, mathematics, laboratory science, and social science. This ensures you have the foundation to succeed in a rigorous liberal arts environment.
Strong Grades: You need a cumulative grade point average of B or higher. Consistent academic performance signals your readiness for university level work.

You can submit a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or above, with MyBest scores accepted. You can submit a Duolingo English Test score of 115 or higher. You can submit a PTE score of at least 56.
Portfolio for BFA Applicants: If you apply for a Bachelor of Fine Arts program, you must submit a portfolio alongside your application. Your creative work becomes part of your evaluation.
Optional Test Scores: You may optionally submit SAT or ACT scores. Use IWU’s College Board code 1320 or ACT code 1044 if you choose to include them.

Application Timelines

Applying to IWU requires attention to deadlines and a clear understanding of the two admission tracks. Early Action applicants who submitted all materials by November 15, 2026 received decisions between November 15 and December 15, 2026. Admitted students still have until May 1, 2027 to confirm enrollment. Some Early Action applicants may receive a deferral to Regular Decision for updated evaluation.

Regular Decision applications remain open on a rolling basis, with decisions mailing after December 15, 2026. Since IWU reviews applications as they arrive and scholarship funds are limited, submitting your completed application as early as possible significantly improves your chances of landing the strongest financial award available.
