Job Title: Social Media Manager

The Akili Foundation is dedicated to creating positive change. We believe in the power of connection, community, and consistent communication to drive impact. Consequently, we are looking for a creative and organized Social Media Manager to join our team. This is not just a posting job. You will be the voice of our brand across digital platforms, shaping how the world sees and engages with our work.

You will manage our entire social media presence. Also, you will develop posting schedules, publish content, monitor engagement, and track performance. More importantly, you will work closely with content creators and designers to ensure every post reflects our values and resonates with our audience. If you have a basic understanding of social media platforms but a deep desire to learn and grow, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

As our Social Media Manager, you will own the day-to-day management of Akili’s social platforms. You will ensure we post consistently, engage authentically, and track what works. Your attention to detail will maintain brand consistency. Your willingness to learn will help us refine our strategy over time. You will be the bridge between our foundation and the communities we serve.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Content Planning & Publishing

  • Develop a Posting Schedule: You will create and manage a content calendar that ensures regular, timely posting across all platforms. You will plan ahead for campaigns and key dates.
  • Publish Content Across Platforms: You will schedule and post content on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and others as relevant. You will adapt content for each platform’s unique audience.
  • Collaborate with Creators and Designers: You will work closely with content creators and graphic designers to source and produce engaging assets. You will brief them on what the audience needs to see.

Community Engagement & Monitoring

  • Monitor Engagement Actively: You will keep a close eye on comments, messages, and mentions. You will respond appropriately and promptly, fostering a positive community atmosphere.
  • Engage with Authenticity: You will represent the foundation’s voice with warmth and professionalism. You will build relationships with followers and supporters.
  • Flag Issues and Opportunities: You will spot trends in engagement and alert the team to potential issues or exciting opportunities for deeper connection.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track Basic Analytics: You will monitor key performance metrics including reach, engagement, follower growth, and click-through rates. You will understand what the numbers mean.
  • Report on Performance: You will share regular reports on social media performance with the team. You will highlight successes and areas for improvement.
  • Learn and Adapt: You will show a genuine willingness to learn more about social media strategy and analytics. You will apply new insights to improve our presence over time.

Brand Consistency

  • Follow Brand Guidelines: You will ensure every piece of content aligns with Akili’s brand voice, visual identity, and messaging standards. Consistency will build trust.
  • Maintain Attention to Detail: You will check posts for errors, broken links, and formatting issues before they go live. You will take pride in polished work.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone with foundational social media skills and a hunger to grow. You do not need to be an expert in advanced analytics yet. You need to be reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

To thrive in this role, you will need:

Core Skills & Attributes

  • A basic understanding of major social media platforms and how they work. You know the difference between posting on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Consistency and reliability. You will show up every day and deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail. You catch mistakes before they happen and maintain high standards.
  • The ability to follow brand guidelines closely. You understand the importance of a consistent voice.
  • A willingness to learn strategy and analytics. You are curious about what works and why.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with creators and engage with the community.
  • A passion for the foundation’s mission. You care about the impact of your work.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Some experience managing social media for an organization or brand.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, or Meta Business Suite.
  • Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar tools.
  • An existing understanding of social media analytics.

Why You Will Thrive at The Akili Foundation

We offer more than a social media job. We offer a chance to use your skills for good.

  • Purpose-Driven Work: You will promote a mission that makes a real difference. Your work will have meaning beyond likes and shares.
  • Growth Opportunity: We are looking for someone willing to learn. You will develop your skills in strategy and analytics over time.
  • Creative Collaboration: You will work with talented content creators and designers. You will be part of a creative team.
  • Flexible Environment: We focus on outcomes, not hours. We offer flexibility in how and where you work.
  • Supportive Culture: You will join a team that values your contribution and supports your development.
  • Build Your Portfolio: You will gain valuable experience managing social media for a respected foundation.
