About Role
The Google Cloud Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of a modern cloud-based data architecture for a major enterprise transformation initiative. The project focuses on migrating an on-premises SQL data warehouse to a scalable data lake environment on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The role involves designing enterprise-grade data pipelines, building analytics-ready data models, and enabling advanced capabilities such as natural language querying, trend analysis, and GenAI-driven insights. You will collaborate with data engineering, security, and analytics teams to build a high-performance data ecosystem that supports enterprise reporting, cybersecurity analytics, and cross-domain decision-making.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data lake architectures on Google Cloud Platform
- Lead migration of on-premises SQL data warehouses to cloud-based environments
- Build and optimize batch and streaming data pipelines for enterprise data ingestion
- Develop analytics-ready data models and semantic layers for reporting and BI
- Implement robust data governance, lineage tracking, and quality frameworks
- Design secure IAM-based access controls and data protection mechanisms
- Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to support AI and GenAI use cases
- Ensure reliability, performance optimization, and operational monitoring of data platforms
Requirements
- 10–14+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing solutions on Google Cloud Platform
- Strong experience with cloud data lake architecture and data modeling
- Expertise with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub architectures
- Advanced Python programming and BigQuery SQL optimization skills
- Experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools such as Hive, Pig, and Sqoop
- Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and lineage frameworks
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification (required or within 3 months)
