Job Title: Programs and Grants Lead

Your Mission: Design Programs, Win Grants, Build Futures

As the Programs and Grants Lead, you will wear many hats. However, every hat serves the same purpose: expanding the foundation’s reach and impact. You will identify needs, design solutions, find funders, write winning proposals, and then ensure the programs deliver exactly what they promised.

Here is exactly what you will own:

Program Development and Strategic Planning

  • Design the Future: You will lead the design, development, and expansion of educational programs that align with the NGO’s mission.
  • Find the Gaps: You will conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in educational services and spot opportunities for new initiatives.
  • Collaborate Closely: You will work with program teams to ensure every project is innovative, impactful, and responsive to real community needs.
  • Build Frameworks: You will develop program strategies, frameworks, and work plans that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Integrate Best Practices: You will coordinate cross-functional teams to weave best practices into every program design.

Grant Writing and Resource Mobilization

  • Hunt for Funding: You will identify potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and international donors.
  • Own the Proposal: You will lead the grant proposal development process from start to finish. You will draft, review, and submit high-quality proposals and concept notes.
  • Gather the Data: You will collaborate with program staff to gather the data and information needed for compelling grant applications.
  • Align with Priorities: You will ensure every grant proposal aligns with donor priorities AND the NGO’s programmatic goals.
  • Maintain the Pipeline: You will keep a healthy pipeline of prospective donors and track every application deadline.

Donor Relationship Management

  • Build Connections: You will develop and maintain strong relationships with key donors, grant-making organizations, and funding partners.
  • Be the Voice: You will serve as the primary point of contact for all grant-related communications with donors.
  • Report with Precision: You will ensure donor reporting requirements are met by preparing and submitting timely, accurate reports.
  • Engage Continuously: You will organize meetings with donors to provide updates on program progress and discuss future plans.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Track the Targets: You will collaborate with the M&E team to ensure grant-funded programs hit every target and deliverable.
  • Develop Metrics: You will oversee the creation of metrics and systems for tracking program performance against grant objectives.
  • Measure Impact: You will ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting to measure program outcomes.
  • Report to Funders: You will prepare and submit grant reports that are accurate, compliant, and compelling.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead the Team: You will lead and mentor a team of program managers and grant writers, guiding them on project implementation and funding strategies.
  • Facilitate Collaboration: You will encourage cross-departmental teamwork between program development, finance, and operations.

Financial and Budget Oversight

  • Ensure Compliance: You will guarantee compliance with all financial reporting requirements from donors.

Communication and Advocacy

  • Tell the Story: You will promote the NGO’s work through communications materials, case studies, and presentations that attract funding.

  • Advocate Widely: You will represent the NGO at conferences, workshops, and meetings to build relationships with partners and funders.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Stay Compliant: You will ensure all grant-funded programs comply with local laws, donor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Mitigate Risks: You will identify and mitigate risks related to program delivery and financial management.
  • Protect Funding: You will ensure all contractual obligations with donors are met and risks to funding streams are minimized.

Grant Management Systems

  • Build Systems: You will develop efficient systems for tracking grant applications, deadlines, reporting schedules, and donor communications.
  • Implement Tools: You will introduce grant management software to streamline reporting and ensure transparency.
  • Document Everything: You will maintain proper documentation of all grant-related activities, from application to closeout.

Research and Innovation
