POSITION: Chef

Key Responsibilities

As our Head Chef, your role will be multifaceted, blending hands-on cooking with strategic oversight. You will be the driving force behind our kitchen, ensuring that every dish delights our guests and meets our rigorous standards. More specifically, your daily responsibilities will encompass:

  • Culinary Creation & Execution: You will plan, prepare, and cook high-quality meals that consistently align with the hotel’s established standards. This involves not only following recipes but also infusing each dish with your own expertise and passion.
  • Innovative Menu Development: In collaboration with management, you will develop and update menus, thoughtfully incorporating seasonal availability and guest preferences to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
  • Kitchen Leadership & Supervision: You will supervise and coordinate the efforts of the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. This includes delegating tasks, training team members, and ensuring seamless daily food production.
  • Quality Assurance: Above all, you will be the guardian of quality, ensuring unwavering consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control for every item that leaves the kitchen.
  • Hygiene & Safety Compliance: You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and sanitation, ensuring the kitchen is always inspection-ready.
  • Inventory & Cost Management: To support the hotel’s financial health, you will monitor food inventory, control kitchen costs, and proactively work to minimize waste.
  • Proactive Maintenance: You will keep a watchful eye on all kitchen equipment, promptly reporting any faults or maintenance issues to management to avoid operational disruptions.
  • Event Collaboration & Service Excellence: Finally, you will collaborate with management on special events and menu planning, all while ensuring timely and impeccable service, especially during peak periods, weekends, and holidays.

Skills, Experience, and Attributes

We are seeking a well-rounded individual whose background and personality are the perfect recipe for success. To be considered for this role, you should possess the following:

  • Proven Culinary Experience: A minimum of several years of proven experience as a Chef in a reputable hotel or high-end restaurant is essential.
  • Culinary Education: While proven experience is key, formal culinary training or a recognized certification will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Strong Leadership Abilities: You must demonstrate strong leadership and kitchen management skills, with the ability to motivate a team and maintain order during the busiest services.
  • Culinary Versatility: A good working knowledge of both local Ghanaian dishes and continental cuisine is required, showcasing your versatility and creativity.
  • Grace Under Pressure: The ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain composure during peak times is non-negotiable.
  • Impeccable Standards: A high level of personal cleanliness and an obsessive attention to detail are fundamental traits we are looking for.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Please note that this role requires a willingness to work on weekends and public holidays, as these are peak times in the hospitality industry.
  • Relocation & Accommodation: The successful candidate must be willing to reside in Cape Coast. To facilitate this, the hotel will provide comfortable accommodation.
