POSITION: Project Driver

Are you a skilled driver looking for more than just a routine job? Do you want to use your abilities to contribute to community development and women’s economic empowerment? If so, the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) invites you to apply for the position of Driver on our groundbreaking EMPLOY project. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your driving expertise with a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of young women across Ghana.

About WUSC

WUSC is a leading Canadian international development organization. We dedicate ourselves to expanding education, economic, and empowerment opportunities for disadvantaged youth globally, with a special focus on young women and refugees. Our vision is a world where all young people can thrive in safe environments, access quality education, secure fair economic opportunities, and actively participate in societal development.

We operate as a facilitator and convener, bringing together diverse stakeholders to address complex development challenges at a systems level. Our network spans civil society, post-secondary institutions, the private sector, and youth themselves. Consequently, we design and implement initiatives that generate sustainable, long-term impact. WUSC currently works in over 25 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. We have an annual budget exceeding CAD 45 million and employ more than 300 staff globally. In Ghana, we have worked since 1997, contributing to national development priorities through partnerships with the Government of Ghana, civil society, and private sector actors.

The EMPLOY Project

The Enhancing Market Participation and Learning Opportunities for Young Women (EMPLOY) Project is an innovative five-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada, running from 2025 to 2030. This project builds on the successes of the INVEST project, which economically empowered over 5,000 urban poor young women in Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi between 2020 and 2025.

EMPLOY will achieve its goals by enhancing skills training for young women in non-traditional sectors. Moreover, it will expand into new sectors with high pay and career advancement potential, such as the growing tourism and hospitality industry. The project will also scale up by expanding into four new regions. Ultimately, EMPLOY will economically empower over 23,000 young women across seven regions. It will support their transition from training to work through a blend of interventions, including entrepreneurship development, apprenticeship-based training, and workplace attachment programs.
