Job Title: Credit Manager (Hybrid Role)

Fruit Finance invites suitably qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Credit Manager. This hybrid role is based at our Mallam Junction operations and represents a critical leadership position within our microfinance institution. We seek a strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities to oversee our credit function and drive responsible lending practices.

Job Summary

As Credit Manager, you will assume full ownership of the company’s credit operations. Your core mandate involves evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers, establishing robust credit policies, and managing accounts receivable to minimize risk exposure. Additionally, you will ensure timely payment collections and strict regulatory compliance across all credit-granting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will encompass the following critical areas:

Credit Evaluation and Decision Making:

  • Creditworthiness Assessment: You will thoroughly evaluate the credit history and financial stability of all loan applicants to determine their genuine capacity to repay debt obligations.
  • Application Processing: Approving or rejecting credit applications based on sound risk analysis, setting appropriate credit limits, and negotiating favorable loan terms with customers falls under your purview.
  • Risk Monitoring: You will actively monitor outstanding loans, manage collections processes, and oversee bad debt provisions to protect the company’s financial health and sustainability.

Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Credit Policy Management: Creating, implementing, and continuously updating the company’s credit policies and procedures is a core responsibility. Consequently, you will ensure consistency and minimize financial risk across all lending activities.
  • Regulatory Adherence: You must guarantee that all credit-granting activities comply fully with relevant banking laws, rules, and regulations governing microfinance operations in Ghana.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Data Driven Decisions: You will analyze financial statements and apply credit scoring models to make informed, objective lending decisions
  • Management Reporting: Preparing and presenting comprehensive credit reports to senior management is essential for strategic oversight and performance tracking.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Customer Relations: You will work directly with customers to negotiate payment terms, manage accounts, and resolve disputes professionally.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Collaborating closely with the sales department to align credit decisions with business development objectives is a key aspect of this hybrid role.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing, Accounting, Banking, Finance, or a directly related field.

  • At least four years of proven post-qualification work experience within a micro credit or microfinance environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of loan application procedures, credit assessment methodologies, and best practice lending standards.
  • Demonstrated track record of hard work, goal achievement, and results-oriented performance.

Required Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Communication Excellence: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively engage customers and stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Quantitative Ability: Proven planning, quantitative, and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
  • Integrity and Confidentiality: Impeccable personal integrity, ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, and a firm but fair approach to decision making.
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong computer literacy skills with advanced competency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of banking laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the microfinance sector.
  • Independent Judgment: Sound independent judgment and the ability to make objective credit decisions under minimal supervision.
  • Goal Orientation: A self-motivated, driven individual who thrives in a target-oriented environment.

Location: This position is based at our Mallam Junction operations in Accra. Candidates must be willing and able to work from this location.
