Job Title: Supervisor – Oil Palm Operations

Position

PSG Limited announces a vacancy for the position of Supervisor – Oil Palm Operations. This is a critical supervisory role within our Estates department, reporting directly to the Estate Manager. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of oil palm to consistently supply high-quality raw materials to our processing plant.

Job Purpose and Summary

The core purpose of this role is to support the daily administration and operational supervision of the oil palm estates. You will ensure optimal growth, timely development, and efficient harvesting to sustain plant operations. Ultimately, you will contribute directly to the company’s profitability by helping recoup investments and achieve our long-term agricultural and business objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive field and team management:

  • Daily Operations and Workforce Management: You will organize daily workloads, calibrate harvesting teams based on targets, and meticulously follow worker output and attendance. Furthermore, you will proactively analyze performance gaps and collaborate with HR to recruit necessary personnel.
  • Field Supervision and Quality Control: Spending significant time in the field is essential to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for harvest and maintenance. You will monitor key productivity and quality indicators, such as harvested surface area and input consumption, to ensure efficiency.
  • Planning, Reporting, and Training: You will develop weekly and monthly field activity programs in consultation with management. Additionally, you will compile detailed monthly progress reports, supervise the accurate recording of all field activities, and provide ongoing training to develop your team’s skills.
  • Administrative and Resource Oversight: Your duties include supervising daily worker musters, certifying control forms and attendance, and managing plantation stocks and tools. You will also initiate purchases and requisitions as per the annual plan while fostering good industrial relations.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture or Natural Resource Management with at least four years of post-qualification experience as an Overseer, OR a First Degree in the same fields with a minimum of two years of relevant Overseer experience in an agro-based industry
  • Solid knowledge of agro-based industry operations in Ghana.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and data management.
  • Strong administrative, people management, and technical report writing skills.
  • Competence in budget forecasting, preparation, and implementation.
  • Possession of a valid motorbike license (License A) is a strong advantage.
  • Moreover, you must demonstrate natural leadership, excellent interpersonal communication, and empathetic listening skills.
  • Being a self-starter with proven problem-solving and analytical abilities is crucial for success in this field-based role.
