Apply for the 2023 Inspiring Women in Science Awards. The Inspiring Women in Science Awards recognize women in science and individuals who encourage girls and women to pursue STEM careers.
They are accepting applications for the Science Outreach and Scientific Achievement award categories.
The Nature Awards for Inspiring Women in Science Science Outreach Category celebrates programs that inspire girls and young women to love, study, and stay in STEM areas. STEM includes science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine.
The Nature Awards for Inspiring Women in Science‘s Scientific Achievement Category honors female scientists in their early careers. The winner will have advanced science and may have surmounted personal and professional challenges.
Awards
The following prizes will be given to the Nature Awards for Inspiring Women in Science winners:
- An award of $50,000 USD
- The organizer’s invitation to the prize presentation in London, with lodging and travel costs, is covered.
- A substitute virtual presentation or appreciation will be planned if holding such a ceremony is neither feasible nor wise.
- Articles about nature.com
- A request for them to showcase their project or proposal to the researchers at The Estée Lauder Companies
- Mentorship from The Estée Lauder Companies
Eligibility
Category: Science Outreach
They will consider submissions from groups, divisions, people (of either gender), or project teams.
They are searching for projects that have:
Encouraged young girls and women to choose jobs in the fields of natural sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine OR enhanced the retention of women in STEM fields with a focus on giving them the resources they need to advance in such fields.
Category of Scientific Accomplishment
Candidates must declare themselves to be women. They define “woman” and “women” in a broad sense. They are open to transgender, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals.
- Candidates must possess a Ph.D., a medical degree, or another sort of dissertation-based doctorate.
- A Ph.D., or doctorate by dissertation, is a postgraduate academic degree that is granted by a university or higher education institution to an applicant who has presented a thesis or dissertation that is the result of in-depth research in their field of study.
- The applicant must have earned their Ph.D., medical degree, or other sorts of doctorate by dissertation within the past ten years.
- The day the Ph.D. (or medical degree) or doctorate by dissertation was accepted by the institutional panel following the submission of their dissertation and/or oral examination is considered the completion date for Ph.D. (or medical degree) holders. They did not graduate on that day.
- Any maternity leaves or other pertinent leaves of absence will extend the aforementioned 10-year period. Hence, the ten years do not have to be consecutive.
- During the application procedure, specifics on these absences must be provided.
- If a candidate has both a Ph.D. and a medical degree, the date of graduation from the most recent degree will be taken into consideration.
- Candidates must be employed in a non-tenured capacity. This includes persons who hold temporary postdoctoral posts as well as temporary tenure-track positions (or equivalents such as proleptic lecturer positions).
- It is not possible to apply if you hold a tenured position (or equivalents, like a permanent lecturer position).
- Those who work in the natural sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine can apply.
- Applications with an interdisciplinary component are also encouraged.
