Developing breast cancer can be very frustrating. Experts have not really been able to identify the exact and best way to prevent breast cancer. Nonetheless, scientists have researched and proven that some factors can help lower the risk of developing breast cancer.
In this article, we should provide a list of things you can do, as backed by science, to help lower the risk or likelihood of developing breast cancer.
LIST OF WAYS TO PREVENT BREAST CANCER
1. FIRST IS BY MAINTAINING A HEALTHY WEIGHT
Science has proven that being obsessed or overweight, can increase one’s chance of developing breast cancer. Especially after menopause women’s estrogen comes from their fat tissue and more fat tissue will increase the amount of estrogen in your body, increasing the risk of developing breast cancer.
Also, when you are obsessed, you tend to have high insulin and high insulin levels also have a link with developing breast cancer. Thus, losing even just a small amount of weight can save you from several health-related issues, and breast cancer is no exception.
2. SECOND IS TO BE PHYSICALLY FIT AND HAVE REGULAR EXERCISE
Studies have proven that having regular exercise and staying physically fit helps reduce the chances of developing breast cancer. Recent updates from a group of scientist researchers recommend that you get at least 150-300 minutes of intensive physical activity every week.
Additionally, it is advisable to reduce certain behaviors such as sitting, lying down, and watching TV. Staying physically fit and healthy can provide you with a lot of health benefits.
3. THIRD IS TO AVOID ALCOHOL INTAKE AND SMOKING
Research has proven that an excessive amount of alcohol intake can increase your chances of developing breast cancer, especially at an early age. Smoking can also destroy some of the cells in your body, and the cells in your breast are not an exception to this. However, research recommends that even if you have to smoke or drink alcohol, drink wisely. If not, it’s advisable to avoid it at all for your own health and safety.
4. BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT THE USE OF HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (HRT)
The use of HRT with a combination of estrogen and progestin have been proven by scientist to increase one’s chances of developing breast cancer. Moreso, it increases the density of your breasts and makes it very difficult to detect breast cancer on a mammogram.
Note that some women have had a hysterectomy where they take HRT with only estrogen. Such people are not at high risk because estrogen alone doesn’t increase breast cancer risk. If you want to use HRT, always make sure to take a lower dose to help limit the likelihood of developing breast cancer.
5. LASTLY IS TO ENSURE A HEALTHY DIET
Scientists have not been able to point out the exact types of diet that may help to decrease the chances of developing breast cancer. Nonetheless, they recommend that you have a healthy diet, and a balanced diet to help reduce the risk.
Despite this, some research has proven that there is a potential link between plant-based diets, Mediterranean diet, Inflammatory diet, and breast cancer. Thus, people who are prone to Inflammation should try taking low Inflammatory diets to help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer.
