5 AFRICAN COUNTRIES WITH  THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF UNIVERSITIES

Africa is home to many tertiary institutions, significantly universities and colleges of learning. Some of these institutions are recognized as the best globally. This should not come as a surprise because it is recorded that, it was in Africa that the first university was established precisely in 895 CE in Fez, which is today’s Morocco.

Since the first university was established, there have been other universities that have sprung up due to civilization and this has made most African countries feel very proud of their accomplishment.

It should be noted that having the largest number of universities in a country does not translate to having more educated people in your country. In that same vein, it doesn’t also imply you are giving out quality education. Equatorial Guinea has only one university yet has the most educated citizens.

It is undoubtedly that tertiary education is the highest in the learning process. It is an important aspect of human development. Not only that, but tertiary education also provides not only the necessary skills needed for the job market but also high-level training that are essential for the economic and infrastructural development of any society.

Considering that the impact of globalization and the increasing acquisition of knowledge is the primary driver for growth. Let’s take a look at some African countries with the most universities.
