2024 NSP National Fully Funded Scholarship Program: Study In Slovakia

The National Scholarship Program in Slovakia is now accepting applications for the 2024–2025 school year. The Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic provides full funding for the Slovak Scholarships for International Students program.

Scholarship Synopsis:

This gives students the chance to pursue their higher education at prestigious Slovakian universities from all around the world. University teachers, researchers, artists, and master’s and doctoral students are all eligible for the scholarship program.

With the help of this fully funded scholarship, people from all over the world can pursue their education in Slovakia. It allows overseas students to study in Slovakia for free because it covers all academic specialties and majors. The good news is that there are no costs involved in applying for this award.

Category: Monthly Financial Assistance

  • University students seeking a second degree: 620 euros
  • 1025.50 EUR for Ph.D. candidates
  • Academic researchers, educators, and artists:
  1. Without a doctorate and with fewer than four years of professional experience: 1,025.50 EUR
  2. Having completed a Ph.D. program and worked for less than ten years, 13,770 EUR
  3. Possessing over ten years of professional expertise and a Ph.D.: of 1,470 euros

Note that job experience only completed up until the application deadline is taken into account when calculating the monthly scholarship amount for university teachers, researchers, and artists; work experience from a Ph.D. program is counted against the maximum of six years of work experience.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funding for the living expenses of recipients of international scholarships while they are studying, conducting research, creating art, or working as teachers at universities and research facilities in Slovakia. The host institution may provide assistance with housing and other administrative tasks pertaining to the scholarship recipient’s stay in Slovakia, or the recipient may take care of these things themselves.

Eligibility

Participants from all over the world are eligible to apply for this Full Free Scholarship. Slovakia International Student Scholarships to Study Free in Slovakia are offered in all academic fields and majors. There’s no need to pay an application fee.

Scholarship recipients who require a temporary residence permit for their stay in Slovakia whose stay exceeds 90 days and who are citizens of nations outside the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland must provide the foreign police office with a certificate of good health within 30 days of receiving the permit.

After presenting the original invoice from the relevant healthcare facility to SAIA, n. o., in Bratislava, scholarship recipients will receive reimbursement for the expenses related to the medical examination and the issuance of this confirmation, up to a maximum of 250 EUR per scholarship holder. A list of recognized medical facilities will be given to recipients of scholarships by the foreign police offices in Slovakia. Should the bill not be submitted before the final report filing time, the entitlement to reimbursement will be forfeited.

Travel Award:

Furthermore, if they apply for it in conjunction with their scholarship application, students and Ph.D. candidates (those who meet the requirements for categories A and B) may also be eligible to receive a travel grant or stipend. A one-time payment in addition to the final scholarship payment, the travel allowance is given to the recipient of the scholarship at the conclusion of their stay.

The applicant’s permanent address or home institution and the location of their stay in Slovakia (the host institution’s address) are the two points on a straight line that determine the amount of travel allowance. The arrangement of the allowance is as follows:

  • Up to 200 kilometers away: EUR 0
  • Over 200 kilometers but under 300 kilometers: 50 euros
  • Distance more than 300 km but less than 500 km: 100 EUR
  • Distance beyond 500 kilometers but not more than 1,000 kilometers: 250 euros
  • Over 1,000 kilometers but under 2,000 kilometers: 350 EUR
  • Distance surpassing 2,000 km but not more than 3,000 km: 500 EUR
  • Over 3,000 miles but not more than 5,000 km: 750 EUR
  • Over 5,000 kilometers but under 7,000 kilometers: 1,100 EUR
  • Over 7,000 km distance: 1,500 EUR.

Qualifying Nationalities:

Under the NSP, nationals of any nation (apart from Slovakian citizens) may apply for a scholarship stay in Slovakia.

Standards of Eligibility:

Those who qualify for NSP Scholarships include:

Candidates who fulfill each of the subsequent requirements:

  • Presently attending universities in locations outside of Slovakia as students.
  • either be pursuing a master’s degree or have finished at least 2.5 years of university coursework in a comparable program by the application deadline.

A public, private, or state higher education institution in Slovakia has accepted them for academic mobility; they intend to study in Slovakia for a period of time as part of their higher education outside of Slovakia. The doctorate (Ph.D.) or its equivalent is not included in this category.

If the academic year is broken into trimesters, the scholarship stay will last one to two complete semesters (which is equal to four to five or nine to ten months) or one to three full trimesters (which is comparable to three to four, six to seven, or nine to ten months).

Ph.D. students

Ph.D. students who have been accepted into a public, private, or state higher education institution or a research institution in Slovakia that is able to provide doctoral study programs (like the Slovak Academy of Sciences) for academic mobility with the goal of studying, researching, or participating in artistic endeavors, but whose higher education or research training takes place outside of Slovakia.

Scholarship stays for PhD students range from one to ten months.

International university instructors

International university instructors, researchers, and artists who have been invited to teach, conduct research, or reside artistically in Slovakia by organizations with legitimate certificates approving research and development activities (not business entities), and with their main office situated in Slovakia.

Scholarship recipients (university teachers, researchers, or artists) may stay for one to ten months.

Applicants Not Eligible for NSP Scholarships:

The following groups of people are not eligible for assistance from the National Scholarship Program:

international students and Ph.D. candidates who have been accepted into Slovakia’s full-degree higher education programs (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies) or who are currently enrolled in such programs and plan to use the NSP to finance their studies there.

University instructors, researchers, and artists who do not hold a Ph.D. (or its equivalent) but who have worked as university instructors, researchers, or artists for more than four years (work experience counting toward Ph.D. studies).

Though offering scholarships at the level corresponding to applicants without a Ph.D. degree and less than four years of experience, the Scholarship Program Administrator may, in exceptional circumstances, consider candidates without a Ph.D. degree (or its equivalent) and who have more than four but less than seven years of work experience.

foreign applicants who, in the 36 months prior to the application deadline, have lived in the Slovak Republic for a total of 15 months or longer.

applicants from outside who are presently enrolled in other public scholarship programs in Slovakia (such as the International Visegrad Fund, Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.).

Note: Situations like pregnancy or parental leave may warrant special considerations when it comes to career interruption.

The application process

Online applications for scholarships can be made at www.scholarships.sk. The online application process opens at least six weeks before the deadline for submissions. Only when the online application system is operational may applications be submitted.
