Bachelor’s Degree Programs:
If you have been accepted into a bachelor’s degree program, you can qualify for the University of Montreal exemption scholarship. The value of the scholarship is only decided by how well you have done academically, which is evaluated by utilizing the transcripts you turned in with your admissions application.
The amount you may receive will be decided by the assessment results. You will not be awarded the University of Montreal exemption scholarship if your file does not meet the requirements for either level A or B following the assessment.
- Level A: $13,340.40 a year equates to two sessions or thirty credits; alternatively, $6,670.20 a session equals fifteen credits; or $444.68 a credit.
- Level B: $6,357.60 or $211.92 per credit per year (equal to two sessions or thirty credits) or $3,178.80 per session (15 credits).

These sums are used toward the $27,101.70 annual tuition fees (for 30 credits). Please note that prices are subject to change without notice.
Graduate Courses (Master’s Level):
A partial exemption scholarship is offered to lessen the additional tuition fees normally assessed to overseas students in order to support them in their graduate studies.
- $11,474.65 per year (three sessions or 45 credits) $3,491.55 per session (15 credits) or $232.77 per credit is the amount allocated to non-research. This is applicable to $30,829.50 in annual tuition fees for 45 credits.
- $347.75 each year (three sessions or forty-five credits) $3,449.25 every session (15 credits) or $229.95 per credit is the amount allocated for research. This is applied to the $29,592 annual tuition fees (45 credits).
The tuition fees for writing and correcting sessions will be the same as those charged to students in Québec.

Graduate Programs for PhDs:
As a means of assisting you with your graduate studies as an international student, you will not be required to pay any of the additional tuition fees that are customarily assessed to international students.
Because of this exemption scholarship, you will not be required to pay any more than the other graduate students who come from the province of Quebec.
- $3 sessions, or 45 credits, are worth $22,241.25 every year; each session is worth $7,413.75 (15 credits), or $494.25 per credit. The annual tuition expenses of $26,562.60 (45 credits)* are subject to this rate.
Tuition fees for writing and editing sessions will be the same as those charged to students in Québec.

Nationalities That Qualify:
The grant is available to students from abroad.
Qualification Criteria:
The exemption scholarship offered by the Université de Montréal is reserved for students coming from outside of Canada, with the exception of French-speaking students hailing from France and Belgian territories. Candidates need to fulfill all of the following requirements to be eligible:
- have been given permission to enroll in a study program at UdeM beginning in the autumn of 2020.
- hold legitimate study authorizations for each session throughout the whole course of their program, such as a study permit and the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ). Please visit the immigration procedures webpage for comprehensive information on the process.
- Throughout their entire study program, continue to enroll full-time, unless an authorized absence is granted.
- not be eligible for any other kind of exemption from tuition.
- not participate in a program of independent study.
- not be accepted into any undergraduate programs for the Winter 2024 session, including majors, minors, certifications, short programs, or year-long preparation programs for university study.
- Should you fail to fulfill any of the aforementioned requirements, the UdeM exemption scholarship may be revoked.
