2023 Newcastle University ASEAN Excellence Scholarship

The ASEAN Excellence Scholarship attracts top students to Newcastle University. This is a merit-based scholarship that recognizes applicants with a strong academic background and incentives them to continue striving to be the best that they can be.

ASEAN countries are eligible for this scholarship:

• Brunei
• Cambodia
• Indonesia
• Laos
• Malaysia
• Myanmar
• Singapore
• Thailand
• Philippines
• Vietnam.

Students who are accepted into an eligible, non-quota program at the University of Newcastle will automatically receive scholarships.

Eligibility

Applying for this scholarship requires:

• Hold a passport from an “ASEAN” country: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, or Vietnam.
• Start an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
• Full-fee international student.
• Start an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus as stated in your Letter of Offer.
• Not receive a university scholarship unless the university grants special dispensation.
• For your student visa and if scholarship eligibility is lost, pay the full tuition fee and other expenses as a full-fee-paying international student.
• Avoiding excluded quota programs (see selection details).

Proof

• Your application’s “Your Documents” page lists the required documents. The application portal only accepts PDFs. Each document type upload field can add 3 PDFs under 5 MB.

Benefit

• For each year of full-time study, each course receives AU$10,000 (pro-rata with an approved load reduction on program plan, credits exemptions, progression, or well-being grounds).
• Each term, your tuition fee will be reduced by AU$ 1250 per 10 units of study.

Selection

• This scholarship requires no application.
• University applicants automatically receive scholarships (where eligibility criteria is met).
• Successful students will receive their scholarship value with their offer and should review the full terms and conditions, notifying the university if they do not accept.
• Academic merit will determine scholarships. Academic merit is determined by the University’s ATAR and GPA procedures.
• Non-receiving students are ineligible for the scholarship. Internal transfer students at Australian or Online campuses who were not previously awarded the scholarship are also ineligible.

• Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Diagnostic Radiography)
• Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Nuclear Medicine)
• Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Radiation Therapy)
• BMS and MD
• Oral Health Therapy Bachelor
• B.Physiotherapy (Honours)
• B.Podiatry.

NOTE: The University can deny the scholarship.
