The Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) and the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat (Scholsec) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which seeks to give scholarships to One Hundred (100) Civil Service staff annually to enhance their career development.
This will help the importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to service delivery in every organization most especially the Civil Service.
The collaboration forms part of the mandate of the Ghana Civil Service to provide requisite leadership, mange the Human Resources and promote the organizational development of the Service while harnessing the mandate of the Scholarships Secretariat to manage all Government Scholarships both locally and abroad.
As part of the collaboration, the Office of the Head of Civil Service will identify qualified staff of the Service for studies in local tertiary institutions with the programme of study being in line with the professional class of the staff.
Also, eligible staff will be bonded to serve for a minimum of two (2) years before exiting the Service after the sponsorship.
The Scholarships Secretariat on its part is expected to grant scholarships to identified staff in line with its mandate of institutional capacity building and human development. Noting that the scholarship shall be subject to annual renewal.
Furthermore, beneficiaries of the Scholarships would be Officers in the professional cadre to pursue Masters and PhD programmes in accredited local tertiary institutions both public and private.
The Memorandum of Understanding were signed by the Head of Civil Service, Nana Agyekum Dwamena and the Registrar of Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, Mr. Kingsley Agyemang.
